New scan in the gallery. To view please again follow the links in the post here. On a note I know this might be inappropriate for a fansite, however, I’m feeling the need to say it. I’m hugely ambivalent to Tamara’s return to GENERAL HOSPITAL. I really wanted this so much. I wanted her back and wanted her to be on long term, however, I feel this is another of her short stints and that it won’t amount to much other than once again serving another’s story rather than her own. The reason I’m so ambivalent is because I wanted her back as Carly. As with her return to DAYS OF OUR LIVES in 2011 as Taylor Walker, this one not only is disappointing that she’s not playing the role she put her indelible mark on and the reason Laura Wright continues to have a job. If not for what Tamara did with the role Wright would not have been able to play not the progressed Carly Corinthos, but “one closer to the original”. In my opinion that’s why she fails utterly as Carly because she has the hubris and temerity to believe she can play her Carly “closer to the original” without taking into consideration she should be incorporating Tamara’s version of the character into her portrayal. By stating she would be playing her Carly “closer to the original” she continues to show a disrespect to Tamara and to a degree Jennifer Bransford who bravely stepped in and took on the part while the ubiquitous powers that be set her up for failure simply be believing they could abuse both Tamara and Jennifer and think we wouldn’t notice. I noticed and while I will be posting regular updates on Tamara’s episodes including screencaps and clips in the gallery and media sections respectively, I’m going to register my displeasure once again for Tamara being brought back as a gimmick, rather than giving her something meaty and respectful in bringing her back to GENERAL HOSPITAL as Carly or DAYS OF OUR LIVES as Ava, instead of as someone associated with Patient6 and Taylor Walker. It will be hard to think of Tamara not as Carly since that is the role that brought me to her as a fan, but to me in my heart she’ll be playing Carly that is closer to where Carly should be and not as a screeching banshee, as Wright is fondly known as on a few message boards. I could tell you some of the other nicknames have for Wright, but I’ll leave it at this. When the IMDB boards were at their height before shutting down, a person named Bored558 posted to Wright’s page back in 2005 when Wright was announced at having taken over the part. To read what he said, please click LAURA WRIGHT IMDB POST. All of what he posted has come true. All of the growth, dignity and humility Tamara infused Carly with is gone. There are some who will say to me, “Well Laura has played Carly the longest and as such is the definitive Carly….” I say wrong. I say whoever brought the greatest growth to the character is the one with squatting rights. As a writer I feel this is most important for long-term characters. Growth and change. Considering Wright is playing her Carly “closer to the original” it’s not surprising she is garnering quite a lot of disdain for her portrayal. I would like to say “Welcome Back Tamara….” But it would be lying. Right now it’s a case of “Welcome back character who won’t move her own story but only aid in Jason and Sonny’s story….yet again.” Carly died 15 April 2005. The final nail was hammered in November 4, 2005, and Jennifer Bransford was the sacrificial lamb.
