I know there’s been no news or any posts since July, but there’s been nothing really to report. As you can see from the sidebar, Tamara does have some new things coming up and I’m still trying to find a copy of HER DARK PAST which is the Untitled Marvista Entertainment Project in the sidebar. And Tamara has DEAD TRIGGER coming up, plus an appearance on the Amazon original show BOSCH with Titus Welliver. TAMARA OBSCURA will be there for you in that regard. But to the nature of this post, I’ve been spending the better part of the past Christmas/New Years holidays setting up a new and more permanent Press Archive for the site. I have things all over the place in different folders within the site, but still nothing set up that I’m happy with. So after about a dozen tries, we have a new and improved Press Archive with a cleaner interface and something I’m finally happy with. I still have a ton to add including over 500 articles I inherited from Hurley when she passed her site’s content over to me. Please be patient as I get that stuff added. I decided to build the Press Archive on the TAMARABRAUN.ORG domain. With the possibility it might run some six or seven hundred pages, I didn’t want this site to become cluttered. I thought I’d utilize the domain I inherited from Hurley for this. That way everything can be kept there and tidy. I hope you like the new archive. Please let me know what you think in the comments section. To get there please click the image below.

I just found this on Tamara’s Youtube channel. It’s a video of some of the major parts of Tamara’s play TENNESSEE IN THE SUMMER that she did a couple of years back. Here she plays the part of Woman in this amazing production. She’s all sex and seduction with a good heaping helping of carnality in how she delivers her lines. What I’d kill to see is a production of another Tennessee Williams’ play “Cat on the Hot Tin Roof” with Tamara as Maggie the Cat, then with actor Treat Williams in a production of “Streetcar Named Desire”. Williams (no relation to the playwright) appeared in a stage version of it then went on to do a filmed for television version with Ann Margaret as Blanche DuBois. Tamara would fit both roles of Blanche and Maggie quite well.

If you don’t mind, I’d like to take this time to do a little back patting. On this day ten years ago TAMARA OBSCURA went online. We’ve come a very long way from our humble beginnings as a lonely, know-nothing webmaster. I had just spent five years on WEBTV teaching myself the very basics of HTML and site design. In fact the very first webhost I signed up for had a drag and drop editor with a “fill in this form” for the site to go live. I’ve learned so much since then and now ten years later I’m ten years older and ten plus sites richer…plus some fanlistings along the way. I took a capture from the Wayback Machine to see what we looked like back then, and posted below is that capture. I think we look a little decidedly different now. And I think my web skills have improved. I can even hand code now! A triumph of the will. I’m hoping that for as long as you’ll have me and Tamara keeps that magic coming, we’ll be here for the long haul. As I said do you mind if I pat myself on the back a little….. Ah hell, let’s have a back slapping time. I want to send out a personal thank you to Hurley for her generosity in handing over to me her hard work at what was EVE. Secondly I want to thank you, my visitors who have come here and continued to support me and the work I offer. My gratitude is beyond words. Most of all I want to thank the one person who made this all possible. And that person is the one and only Tamara Braun. It is my honour to keep this site up as a dedication to your gracious spirit and your immense talent, beauty and grace. It has been a pleasure getting to know you and to make this site for you. Thank you Tamara…. just thank you!

It was a difficult decision I grappled with when I decided to write this post. You might have noticed that updates of screencaps have been a little sporadic, if not lacking and I truly have to apologize for that lapse. The reason is because I’m really having a difficult time with Tamara’s return to DAYS OF OUR LIVES in her Emmy Winning role of Ava Vitali. That difficulty has been not with Tamara’s work, but with the story line in general. When word came last July that Tamara was coming back to the show, I was so overjoyed. Considering what happened to me earlier in the year, the death of my mother, being able to see Tamara again was that salve I needed for a wounded soul. So like I know most of you I waited patiently for her December return date. I admit I was a little dismayed at the lack of press for her return. There was once a time when a big return like this would get the full court press and all the remaining soap publications would feature a return article. There was one major interview in SOAP OPERA DIGEST, but for the most part they all have been pretty thin in terms of any excitement. Certainly with the waning interest in soap operas in general, one would have hoped that there would be some modicum of interest given how much Tamara is respected within that community, or that her Emmy win would be reason enough to warrant a few articles instead of just one major one. But then comes this article on Daytime Confidential‘s website about DAYS being told to shut down writing until a deal can be reached.

Days of Our Lives writers, put down your pens, er, keyboards. I’ve learned the team led by Josh Griffith and Dena Higley has been told to stop writing until a new deal is reached between NBC, Sony and Corday Productions. The 50-year-old sudser has been written through September 2016.

Last month, NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt and Entertainment President Jennifer Salke told TVLine they were happy with the soap ahead of starting negotiations this month to keep DAYS on the Peacock network. Here’s hoping a new pact can be reached soon.

Despite the positive hope for renewal there is little to be hopeful for from the message boards I’ve visited and or post(ed) to daily. Some are saying the show is done, and I really can’t say I care. With the exception of the actors, stage hands, and other crew who would be out of work, I have to say with the absolute unoriginality of the current stories as well as the lack of coherency of many of the characters and their motivations, most acting out of character I’m not surprised.

I belonged to the Soapcentral message board until today. After five days of debating whether Ava raped Steve (Stephen Nichols), I’m left with a profound state of ennui. Yes they’re calling it rape. Apparently according to many of the posters most of them Steve and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) fans, they believe that Ava raped Steve. This fills me with both anger and something akin to confusion as to what direction Ava’s return was to go in. Given her previous run as Ava (February 8 2008 – August 04 2008) I was hoping for something for Tamara that would push Ava into a bit of human conflict in who she’d be this time around. With Tamara’s run as Taylor in 2011 and how much that story line fizzled with unfulfilled promises and again from 2008, I had hoped the powers that be at DAYS, NBC and Sony would have realized the gold they have in Tamara and the possibility of an Ava and Steve pairing enough to dare to break up the iconic Steve and Kayla in order to bring together two amazing talents who’d be capable of shaking the show up. Instead was I was given was a sham yet again and a huge sense of disappointment at the end of today’s episode. The utter lack of concern from Steve for Ava and the devastation Ava felt at finding out their son was dead. While Tamara killed it, as she always does, I felt a break in me that has left me feeling very disillusioned.

Ava tells Steve (Stephen Nichols) about the baby. Here’s the promo. Enjoy.

Some things have been going on behind the scenes you might not be aware of, but I’ve been mulling something over in this brainium of mine and I decided something that I think you’ll all be very happy about. This decision has to do with something you guys have been writing to me about for a while. That thing is, I’ve decided to reactivate the two media sites I had on Tamara. So what does this mean, exactly? It means that for right now I decided to get the soap opera site back up and running first. It’s taken the better part of the week to get all the bugs worked out and tonight I finally got those exterminated and the site is now back up. Right now there are no new videos added. What is up there now are some episodes of Tamara from ALL MY CHILDREN as Reese Williams, and the majority are of her as Taylor Raines Walker from her second go around on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. My main impetus currently is to get all her work as Ava Vitali up considering her upcoming return in December…oh why does that have to be so damn far away? I hope you will be happy of this decision as I know I’ve had a lot of emails regarding this. So enjoy. Just click on the banner below to go there. If you want to know the whole story surrounding the reasons why the media site went down, please feel free to go to this link ABOUT OBSCURE MEDIA to read.

Well, we’re still on and I’m glad because I’m going to get the chance to wish Tamara a Happy 43rd Birthday. Gosh she barely looks 30. She’s looking so lovely these days. What’s her secret? I’m hoping she is celebrating with her furbaby and with family and friends. Please feel free to click on the banner below and go to her Twitter account and wish her the best.

I wanted to let you know about something that might be happening on 14 April, 2014. I’m having a little trouble getting my webhosting fees together to renew my hosting for another year so TAMARA OBSCURA will be going dark on that date, or shortly thereafter. I won’t be able to get it back up for two weeks until I get paid. If you’d like to donate something to help me out please feel free to scroll down to the bottom of the page and hit the donate button in the sidebar in the “Site Info/Disclaimer & Donate” area. This is the first time I’ve had to ask for donations to keep us up, but I thought I’d throw out the bone. Thanks to anyone willing to help out.
