The social impact of the Reese and Bianca relationship is continuing to have an impact abroad. On a Dutch soap opera a brochure showed up featuring an image of Reese and Bianca at their 2009 groundbreaking nuptials. Here is what was said about the show and the featuring of the brochure:

AMC’s Bianca & Reese Pop Up On Dutch Soap GTST

ALL MY CHILDREN’s Bianca (Eden Riegel) and Reese (Tamara Braun) were seen on Dutch soap opera GOEDE TIJDEN SLECHTE TIJDEN on Friday, on a marriage equality brochure. GTST fan and We Love Soaps contributor Mark offers us a recap:

Nuran Baydar (played by Toprak Yalçiner) and Rik de Jong (played by Ferri Somogyi) have feelings for each other. But because Rik isn’t muslim Nuran feels like she can’t be in a relationship with him. Both of them have started dating other people and both of them are rushing into marriage. Rik with Yvon Terstal (played by Terence Schreurs) and Nuran with Bilal Demir (played by Sinan Eroglu). Especially that last marriage is doomed because Bilal is actually gay.

On Friday Nuran went to a bridal shop to try on her wedding dress. Rik saw her through the window and couldn’t resist to enter the shop. As an excuse he said he wanted to pick up some brochures for Yvon. He wasn’t really paying attention to those brochures because one of them was the one about gay marriage.

When I saw the episode I didn’t notice it was Bianca and Reese. I saw it today when the show uploaded it on their website. The show always does this with letters, cards and photos that are used in the episodes as props. It’s a fun extra for the fans.

The brochure itself talks about how gay marriage has been legal since 2001, but that there are still a few differences between gay couples and straight couples. Like when a couple has children. Only the biological parent is seen as a legal parent. The other parent has to adopt the child to become a legal parent.

SOURCE

Here are the front and back covers of the brochure, it’s all in Dutch with no translation.

I think it’s amazing that the Reese and Bianca story is still having an impact, particularly on the global discussion on Gay Rights Equality. It’s only too bad Chuck Pratt didn’t see it the way we did and the way the world saw it. I’m proud of both Tamara and Eden’s work and how they managed to make Reese and Bianca so valid in today’s global discussion on the rights of those who do not share equality on certain levels. The whole aspect of inequality in terms of the issue of children from a gay or lesbian couple where the other parent has to adopt the child(ren) from the union still needs some work. What is bothersome is that while surrogacy is needed in the issue of sperm/womb donor, there should be no separation between the aspect of parenting. In whatever union that is — in terms of two women or two men — they are parents. Once that decision is made to have a child, end of story. It’s no different than that of heterosexual couples.

Jumping off soap box now.

Well, I just got through watching the day-ahead episode of Tamara’s final day on DOOL and I can tell you, they did not kill her off. Taylor lives and has gone off into the Bollywood sunset with Quinn (Bren Foster), Vivian (Louise Sorel) and the newly returned Ivan (Ivan G’Vera). Apparently Ivan is a producer in the lucrative Bollywood film industry and he returned to Salem to reclaim his Madam, Vivian. He has a private plane and along with Ms. Alamain, he’s taking Quinn and Taylor off with him. So Taylor has survived. I have to say, this farewell was way better than Tamara’s first go around as Ava. There is the chance Taylor might return, though considering this so-called ‘new’ path Ken Corday is taking this show on, I doubt it. I think the capper on this departure had to be the final scene Tamara as Taylor had with James Reynolds (Abe Carver). I’ve loved James since I first saw him as Abe back in the 80s, and to have her final scene be with him was sublime but bittersweet. I still think this reboot Corday has launched is a bit premature. All the exits in one fell swoop is a bit too much and to lose such a talent as Tamara is too big a hit. As of tomorrow’s actual NBC network airing, it’ll be my last for DAYS OF OUR LIVES. It’s been a good run, however, Tamara’s presence made the show watchable and for me her final day tomorrow means I’m done. In the coming days I’ll try to get her final months of episodes up in the gallery and in the media section. With not having to record each day it’ll be easier. I also really want to clear all the rough clips off my computer to make some room. So all I can say is this, for all my visitors, stop by Tamara’s TWITTER page and leave her a tweet or two about how much she’ll be missed. I will be doing it right now. Hope to see you soon Tamara. I’m going to miss you each day.

Tamara tweeted on Friday she was heading to Big Bear for lunch. She posted a photo of her mode of transport. I also think she looks so cute in her outfit. You can view more of her tweets from the feed in the sidebar or you can Click Here to go to Tamara’s Twitter page. Pic below:

Tamara Braun posted this photo on her Twitter account. She is on her way to Big Bear for the day.

Many, many, many apologies for not having had these updates up as they’ve aired. A lot of stuff happening in my life that I couldn’t avoid being a part of. Also it does take time to get the episode recorded, converted, clipped and screencapped. Unfortunately I am a mega procrastinator and this is what happens…stuff piles up and people get mad at me. This is why I’m not good under pressure…unless it’s the Queen/Bowie version. Then I’m all engaged. Okay, enough preamble. Here’s what you came for…. That is if I can still remember the coding……………. ::massive silence::

For those who were regulars at the SONY board, I finally found out what happened. Apparently their boards were hacked by the same people who hacked the Playstation Network. It may be weeks before their boards are back up and running again. Likely all our posts might be gone. But there you are.

Well, here it is. Finally! TAMARA OBSCURA‘s new layout. A huge debt of gratitude to Christine @ PINKCHAOS.ORG for the lovely and stunning design. I’d struggled for months with various things that Christine brought together so effortlessly. If anyone needs a quality website designed for them, Christine’s your go-to gal. Thank you so very much Christine. No words can express how thrilled I am with the new design.

One thing though, with Christmas rapidly approaching and some personal issues I have going on right now in terms of family responsibilities, the transferring of the pages in the old website will take some time to transfer here. I’m still trying to figure out how I’m going to set up the new press section, so until I have that done, I’m going to be using the dropdown section in the top sidebar box for that so you can still read the articles. I also have a whole whack of house cleaning to do behind the scenes in clearing out the old files that once encompassed this site. I hope to have that done throughout December. With so much new here at TAMARA OBSCURA, I’m going to have to take the time to breathe it all in. So for now, I hope you love the changes. I know I do.

As always, take care and be safe.

Yours, Dianne

I just wanted to let you know that over the next few weeks, there will be some changes that will be happening for TAMARA OBSCURA. Those things will be in the gallery, plus the main site. What those ‘changes’ will be? I’m going to be getting up a new layout to both the main site and gallery, so that will entail me having to update some major things throughout. What this will mean is for a period of two weeks, I’ll be putting up an hiatus page that will effectively block the site from being viewed, but the gallery will remain up as well as OBSCURE MEDIA for you to look at. The gallery will be undergoing a database update to a newer more secure form. But again, it will be active for you to view. I’m hoping the updating will go smoothly though given my proclivity to screw up….. I’ll be moving the site’s main pages and press section over to the new content throughout these two weeks while I”m working on getting the new layout up. I hope you understand and I do promise, the site will not be down long.

Onto other stuff, there is a Facebook page out there @ TAMARA BRAUN that is claiming to be Tamara. It is not. Tamara does not to my knowledge have a Facebook, Myspace or Twitter account. So please be warned.

This person who has set this page up has taken images from my site to be used on this page without asking me. This person is also using my site as ‘Tamara’s’ official website. This is wrong and I did not give this person permission to do so. I’ve posted to this person to kindly remove any images that bear my watermarking and the profile pic as it is directly cropped from my main header banner. This image is not for copying and reposting. I’ve also asked this person to remove the link to my site as it is not Tamara’s official website.

Okay, that’s it for now. As I said, please be advised of the changes going on. If you have a comment, please don’t forget to use the Shoutmix in the sidebar. I’d love to hear from you.

Yours, Dianne

I know, there’s been a serious lack of updates here other than the design change (which may or may not be permanent), but there’s been a lot going on in my life of late that’s been unavoidable. There’s been some illnesses in my family between myself, my partner and my mother, it’s been hard to be on the computer. I’ve tried to keep up with Tamara’s latest works with appearances and such. I have a lot of images to update as far as stills from her work on ALL MY CHILDREN and new publicity images, plus a lot in terms of updating the PRESS section and OBSCURE MEDIA to try …. try to clear off the backlog on my computer to store in external sources. So please, bear with me for now. I’ve managed to get a copy of Tamara’s latest work on SAVING GRACE as Renee Ellen. Considering it doesn’t air here in Canada, I’ll likely have HD images in the gallery from the third season DVD release before it even airs on regular television here. I’ve also gotten a hold of Tamara’s two UN-HAPPILY EVER AFTER episodes where she played Nell and Lacy. The clips are now up at OBSCURE MEDIA for you to see. The quality isn’t all that great. The channel I recorded them off of doesn’t have the greatest reception despite it being an HD station. But beggars can’t be chosers. I’ve also updated teh FREDDIE channel on OM with all four of Tamara’s episodes from FREDDIE as Rose, the Baker. I’m wondering if Rose would be a good fit for Damian Lewis’ character Milo in the film THE BAKER?

I just wanted to give the heads up that I’ll be working on the site this weekend. Nothing will be down, but I want to tweak some of the pages and get some coding that will be easier to work with than what I currently have. As I said, nothing will be down. I’m also in the process of getting some new material up in the form of articles, photos, and other things. So again, so sorry for the lack of updates. As for the tweaking, don’t worry if you see things happening that don’t look right. It’s just me toiling around in the background. Take care.
