LATE BREAKING NEWS
TAMARA BRAUN TO DAYS
Fan favorite Tamara Braun, who played GH's Carly from 2001-2005, has joined th cast of DAYS as Ava, a woman from Steve's past. She first airs on February 8.
"You're getting me as I really walked in," she tells Digest on her first day on set. "I pretty much just met eveybody!" Braun (below) reports that the deal was fast and finalized the night before she reported for work. "It was an exciting surprise," she says. "I got a call and it was a role that really intrigued me, so we got to talking. [Ava] sounds very layered and complicated and seems like there's a lot to sink my teeth into. It was all very quick, and probably you know more about this than I do!"
Braun says she is eager to work with Stephen Nichols (Steve; ex-Stefan, GH) and Mary Beth Evans (Kayla, ex-Katherine, GH, bot of whom she knows from her P.C. days. "Stephen and I would cross over in the makeup room and say basic 'Hellos,' but we never really got to know each other and we never as actors worked together, so I'm looking forward to it. He's an actor's actor and likes to get into it. I'm looking forward to what we might find. I walked in today and Mary Beth gave me the biggest hug." As for the rest of the cast, "I honestly have been here an hour! Just not very long. I had a little salad and I feel like I've just said hello to people. So far, everyone is so warm and nice."
Braun didn't sign a long-term deal, which appealed to her. "It's perfect," she says. "There's nothing wrong with leaving daytime and there's nothing wrong with coming back. Things just have to lineup for you in your life. It has to be the right time to express and explore certain things. It's an interesting day because I came over here to start and meet everybody, and the first film that I did when I left GH — Little Chenier — opens in theaters today."
The timing of Braun's return is interesting, considering that Sarah Brown (Claudia; GH; ex-Carly) recently returned to GH. The acterss smiles at the conincidence and says, "I loved my time there. I made the greatest friends."
So, is she ready for the fast pace of daytime again? "Well, I don't really have a choice, do I?" she laughs. "We'll see!"
