CRAZY AVA CORNERS STEVE!
Tamara Braun is playing Steve's nutty ex.
Editor's Opinion
Just when we thought Steve was psychologically healed and back to his old (semi)sensible self, he turned stark-raving mad again. The guy thinks his psyco ex Ava may have sabotaged the Bradys' plane back to Salem, and then she threatens him and his unborn child, yet Steve doesn't breathe a word to his pregnant wife, Kayla? Come on! Our Patch would have run to Sweetness screaming, "Watch out!" Instead of leaving her cluelessly in the dark—and in danger.

Scorned Ava unleashes her wrath on Steve this week, announcing she wants him and his child.
"Steve knows something about 'crazy,'" reminds Stephen Nichols (Steve), "so he is afraid for his family."
Ava approaches Steve after he brings Kayla home from the hospital. He reacts by grabbing her throat. "Steve reacts so violently because Ava sent him a note while he was recovering in teh hospital threatening Kayla and her unborn child," explains Nichols. "He suspects she is responsible for sabotaging the plane, causing it to crash.
Ava counters by berating Steve for leaving her without so much as a goodbye after promising they'd get married and have babies. "Maybe he promised, maybe he didn't," hedges Nichols whose character then explains that he was a different person back then. Furious, Ava punches Steve, insisting she wants him back and his baby. Then, she reiterates her threats against his loved ones and warns him to watch his back. "What is chilling is Ava's intensity when she tells him her reasons for tracking him down," notes Nichols. "Steve sees an obsession in Ava's eyes that is more heightened than in the past."
Steve warns Ava to stay away from his family and heads home. After Kayla goes to bed, he pulls out a gun. "the threatening note was enough to put him in full alert," warn Nichols.
Later, at Grampa Shawn's funeral, Steve catches Ava spying on him again, so he confindes to Abe about his stalker. "Steve makes Abe swear to keep it between them, then tells him about meeting Ava after escaping from Stefano," previews Nichols. "He later tells Abe about the threatening note Ava sent and [explains he] wants full access to all of Abe's resources."
But those resources might not be enough when a lurking Ava seen Steve hug Hope outside St. Luke's after the funeral and misconstrues the situation. When Seve leaves, Ava approaches Hope and asks if she loves him. Of course Hope loves her old pal, and answers in the affirmative—which puts a target on her back.
"Steve has no idea that Ava is lurking about when he and Hope are hugging," asserts Nichols, noting that Steve "suspects his old lover has a few screws loose."
Those loose screws could leave the wrong woman in a very tight situation.
