Welcome to TAMARA BRAUN ONLINE a site dedicated to Emmy Award Winning actress and activist Tamara Braun. Known for her best known roles as Ava Vitali (Days of our Lives), Reese Williams (All My Children) and Carly Corinthos/Dr. Kim Nero (General Hospital). Tamara as quite a few prime time credits to her name including Bosch, CSI, Saving Grace, Supernatural, Freddie, Castle, Without a Trace, House and including the films Little Chenier, Limbo Lounge, Fallen Arches, Pretty Rosebud. Tamara is also an activist lending her name and time to many charities and causes to create change in the world. This site has a strict NO CANDIDS POLICY. To read that please click the link.

Today’s episode was very hard to watch. Hard to watch because I cannot stand Laura Wright and how she plays “her version” of Carly. When I think of when Tamara said, “I loved Carly with my whole heart” and to see how Wright has rolled back all the growth and maturity Tamara infused Carly with in her final few months…. Then seeing them talking about Morgan and remembering how Tamara played out Morgan’s birth in November 2003, I’m even more in the mind that bringing Tamara back as anyone other than Carly was wrong. If you’ll remember that little sneaky thing I did with the video from 2018/03/15 – “General Hospital” Episode #1.14038 when I slipped in the clip of Liz (Rebecca Herbst) seeing Carly in the Panic Room, I would love to slip in the clip of Tamara’s Carly giving birth to Morgan with a bullet in her head. It infuriates me to know that Wright derided Tamara’s portrayal, and now she’s kissing Tamara’s butt knowing full well Tamara is the better actress, yet she’s garnered for herself another Emmy nomination for a role Tamara should have won best actress for before her from the whole 2003 year. I’m further infuriated when I think of how the writing and story is not using Tamara to her fullest. We her fans know what she’s capable of. We know she can play almost everything and anything and make us feel for her. Even playing Ava Vitali on DAYS OF OUR LIVES she made us feel for her to the point that when she was gone, we felt her loss. I have to ask her “fans” one question: Is this what you wanted when you said, “We don’t care who you play, we just want you back on our screens.” Is this what you wanted only to see her on average about six episodes a month? Is this what you wanted to see, her not driving her own stories in the role that without her, Laura Wright wouldn’t still have a job? I know how this is all coming off, but as a fan of Tamara’s I want to see her as Carly. The Carly I grew to love, the Carly I grew to adore because of all of those personal touches Tamara put on her. All of those things Wright, the writing and production have stripped away leaving nothing but a shelled out character with nothing familiar left. I know for me I want to see her as Carly as a doctor working alongside her mother, Bobbie (Jackie Zeman). That’s how Carly should have evolved. Instead they’ve reduced Carly to a sophomoric, brainless shell of her former self. The thing too that is also infuriating is that should Wright eventually walk (which I feel she might) if they keep entwining Tamara into this show in this way, it’ll be harder and harder for her to re-assume Carly should that event arise. And again I know these statements I make might be off putting, but sometimes these words need to be said. I also know I risk making this site unattractive to Tamara’s fans, but again I feel instead of the blindness at which some consume shows like GENERAL HOSPITAL, sometimes reality needs to be interjected. As the great journalist Edward R. Murrow once said, “Goodnight and good luck.”

Here’s what you came for.

Apologies for the extreme lateness of this post. I had a couple of appointments yesterday plus some quality time with my partner. I’m going to ask this one question that so far has remained unanswered: When does Tamara get her own story and drive it? Seems her primary job is to forever be the cheerleader for Julian (William De Vry). She’s also very much a hypocrite. Her first episode back had Kim chastising Sonny (Maurice Benard), openly, for his being a mobster, yet here she is wanting to get together with Julian even though he’s committed crimes of his own. They are:

– Committed various crimes while working for and running the Jerome organization [1988-1990]
– Kidnapped and murdered his sister Olivia [1990]
– Killed Johnathon Paget during a gunfight [1990]
– Operated an online gambling ring and knowingly lured Morgan Corinthos into gambling debt [revealed Aug 2, 2013]
– Shot Vince, a henchman within his organization, and left him to die in the harbor [Sept 16, 2013]
– Ordered Carlos Rivera to destroy a shipment that belonged to Sonny Corinthos [Sep 18, 2013]
– Ordered his henchmen to ransack the Corinthos coffee warehouse [revealed Oct 23, 2013]
– Ordered Carlos Rivera to kill Morgan Corinthos [Oct 28, 2013]
– Imported and distributed illegal drugs [Apr-May 2014]
– Arrested for drug trafficking [May 21, 2014]
– Shot Mickey Diamond [Jul 29, 2014]
– Arrested on charges of fraud and conspiracy to aid in the wrongful imprisonment of Luke Spencer [Dec 3, 2014]
– Ordered Carlos Rivera to kidnap Ric Lansing and hold him in the trunk of a car [Dec 18, 2014]
– Falsely confessed to the murder of Anthony Zacchara and sentenced to Pentonville [Jan 8, 2015; charges dropped Feb 18, 2015]
– Escaped from prison [Jan 29, 2015]
– Shot Johnny Zacchara in the shoulder [Feb 3, 2015]

While Kim may believe in second chances, I’d say she needs to be a little more even in her condemnation of criminality. But then given we see her so little, my feeling is no one cares. Right now Tamara is averaging about seven episodes per month despite the fact she is a proven talent. I could care less about he “chem” test with De Vry, they need to cut their losses and make her Carly again because right now most of the boards I’m on are tired of “you know who” and her yelling, snarling, grimacing…. You get the drift. They’re also saying they want Tamara as Carly. That call is clear. Now whether the powers that be or the ubiquitous TPTB listen is another matter altogether. So here we still sit waiting for the storyline we were promised. (or the Prince that was promised….. Game of Thrones reference).

GENERAL HOSPITAL is about to celebrate it’s 55th anniversary on April 1, 2018. It’s been on the airwaves for longer than any of its other competitors on the other networks. Even its two ABC sister soaps One Life To Live and ALL MY CHILDREN don’t have the same bonafides. So in light of that astounding accomplishment, one would think the impetus of the current powers that be would be to beef up the show’s future by borrowing from the past. Last year saw an amazing fete from executive producer Frank Valentini in his ability to lure back two of the show’s high power players. Those being our Tamara Braun and Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The other was to bring back Genie Francis and push her toward becoming the grand dame of the show in giving her a larger role in her capacity as the iconic Laura Vining Webber Baldwin Spencer. Even having her find love again and marrying her to long time VIP Kevin Collins played by long-time vet Jon Lindstrom. It looked like they were positioning this show to become something more in terms of making it viable past it’s 55th Anniversary. So what mistakes have they, or rather Frank Valentini made that makes the viability of this show in question? Let’s examine.

When it was announced that Tamara was on her way back to GH I had hoped, as did many others, she would be reclaiming her role of Carly Corinthos. I know for me I had all my fingers, toes and eyes crossed. When ABC Soaps in Depth said it would be featuring an article in its November 2017 edition with Laura Wright it seemed from all appearances it would be an exit interview. When it came closer to Tamara’s airdate, we received news that her “character” would have something to do with Patient6 (Jason) and she would have news on him. This baited us more with the possibility of a switcheroo that she would indeed be replacing Wright, but then we found out her character’s name would be Kim Nero thus dashing all our hopes she would be playing Carly once again. A role all of her fans was praying she’d one day come “home” to play. Frank Valentini said in an interview he’d talked to her back in 2009 at the Daytime Emmy awards where she won for Best Supporting Actress in a Daytime Drama for her role of Ava Vitali on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. If I’d be a betting woman, I’d deduce Valentini was perhaps positioning Tamara to come back to play Carly. That was until 2011 when Laura Wright won for Best Actress in a Daytime Drama for playing largely a faux Carly. Given the field that year The Bold & Beautiful veteran Susan Flannery was the front-runner given her decision to retire from the soap. However, Wright won in effect scuttling any chance of Tamara’s return to come back to play Carly.

We come to 2017 and Steve Burton’s triumphant return as Jason, Genie finally being elevated to contract and Tamara returning as Kim. So what’s wrong with that picture? Plenty. Apparently Genie was given her walking papers before Christmas. Yeah she was demoted to non-contract status and in Frank Valentini’s words to appear in count ’em TWELVE episodes a year. That is so demeaning to this actress who single-highhandedly saved this show from cancellation back in 1977. Until the David Hamilton Murder Case GENERAL HOSPITAL was on the cancellation block. With the creation of that storyline the show was saved from cancellation, with Genie and her onscreen mother Lesley played by Denise Alexander being the stars who not only saved the show, but brought it to prominence for Gloria Monty to be able to come in to revamp the show with the espionage and intrigue of the Left-Handed Boy story, but also bringing in Tony Geary as Luke Spencer. But again remember it was Genie and Denise who saved this show. Not Geary. Geary if not for Monty would have been a short-term character, gone in perhaps the customary thirteen week cycle and never to be remembered again. Instead Luke was saved and it was Roy DiLuca (Asher Bruner) who was sacrificed in order to set up the beginning of the Laura and Luke phenomenon. Notice what I did? I said LAURA and Luke. Not the other way around as is the custom for most articles to give Geary more credit than Francis.

We’re more than two months away from the April 1st 55th anniversary. Yet we have Frank Valentini making ridiculous if not insane decisions such as not bringing Tamara back to play Carly and letting Genie Francis go. He hired Laura Wright’s boyfriend in a parking lot for a contract character no one cares about, but he reduced the iconic Genie Francis to twelve appearances a year? If Valentini had any balls, which I don’t believe he does, he’d have cut his losses with Wright…and face it in most of the message boards and comment sections I visit daily, no one likes Wright’s interpretation of Carly. They don’t like her selfishness, her hubris, her grandiosity and her loudness. I’ve counted at least a dozen nicknames. They want the Carly back who had learned lessons, grown, become a woman and had vulnerability, something Wright is totally incapable of playing due to her lack of understanding of subtext. Oh sure she can cry on cue, but little else in terms of subtlety. However, Valentini did something we GH and most specifically we Carly fans never thought would happen: Tamara Braun would come back to GENERAL HOSPITAL. Given the re-hiring of Steve Burton and the re-signing of Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) to another three years, and the 55th Anniversary of the show coming up, what a time to have reunited the real CarSaSon (for the uninitiated that is Carly/Jason/Sonny) and begin to carve out a path to keep the show on for the foreseeable future. Imagine what that would look like to bring about a renaissance for this show and give us back our grown up Carly, original Jason and Sonny, plus giving us Laura Vining Webber Baldwin Spencer now Collins in a storyline worthy of Genie’s ample talent, and allow this show to get back to what it used to do: Entertain.

I’m being told by some that they love Laura Wright’s Carly. Most of those are newer fans who just started watching when Wright was playing Carly. They don’t understand who Carly was under Sarah Brown, and who she became under Tamara Braun. What is currently on our screens with Laura Wright is not Carly. That Laura Wright is not trained enough to understand that “playing my Carly closer to the original” means backsliding for a character that had become something more under both Tamara Braun and Jennifer Bransford, she clearly doesn’t understand what playing a long term character on a soap opera means. If we look at the character of Luke Spencer as a model and see that what started out to be a one-note character become a hero, then we see what that means in terms of making the show current. We have to forget what mess Tony Geary made out of Luke in the end in trying to deconstruct the myth. That’s what Laura Wright did. She deconstructed all growth Tamara’s Carly made in understanding why she had the impulses she did, why she lied, why she did the things she did. She learned a lot in light of the Kristina reveal and became a heroine in her own right, not Wright. And that is what we all do when we watch these shows. We grow along with the characters because that’s the nature of the show. For any of Wright’s fans who believe she’s playing the grown version of Sarah Brown’s Carly, think again. She’s not. She claims she’s playing her Carly, “closer to the original”. Again she’s not. She’s playing as some have said to me in private emails and as that poster to IMDB said, more of Princess Cassie Winslow from Guiding Light. She’s not playing Caroline Leigh “Carly” Benson Corinthos. She’s playing a transplanted Cassie. That’s all. When you look at Tamara’s three other soap characters of Ava Vitali (DAYS OF OUR LIVES), Taylor Walker (DAYS OF OUR LIVES) and Reese Williams (ALL MY CHILDREN) not to mention Kim Nero, none of these other characters Tamara has played is anything like the other. Carly is not like Ava, is not like Taylor, is not like Reese is not like Kim. This shows how well Tamara is able to craft her characters into individual beings, not carbon copies of another one she’s played. We could see in 2014 with the “Carlypalooza” episode of GENERAL HOSPITAL aired on the 51st anniversary of GENERAL HOSPITAL on April 1st, we saw Tamara work her magic. Bring Carly back to her evolved self. That alone told us that Laura Wright is all wrong for playing Carly. One thing I know about running this website since 2006 is the proclivity of my visitors in terms of the gallery views. Most of the time they’re viewing the most recent uploads, however, most of the current views have been in the section dedicated to Tamara’s time as Carly for the years 2001 and 2002, the years I have up in the gallery. (I’m still working on editing 2003-2005). But people are interested in her time as Carly. I’m not getting as many hits on the Kim Nero section of gallery as I am on the Carly Corinthos section. That says something. I’m going to let you interpret that in whatever way you will dear reader. But to me it’s clear.

So what would my short-term fixes be? Fire Laura Wright. Get rid of her or find another character for her to play. It’s been done before via the One Life to Live three. Reinstate Tamara as Carly. Perhaps have Carly suddenly a doctor. This show has done weirder things. That would give Tamara that meat she loves to play and fulfill for her what she wanted for Carly way back in 2005 when she made her decision to leave due to the lack of wanting Carly to have a career. Heck it’s been done before. Do a do-over of the Mayoral race and have Laura win. Allow her to become what Laura was always meant to become, a champion of Port Charles. That’s who she was back in the 70s and 80s. Make that happen for her and for her fans. Get rid of the flotsam in Valentin, Nina, Ava. Those characters wouldn’t be missed. Pervy Franco, get rid of him. No one likes him either. Make Roger Howarth Todd Manning again. With the settlement of the Prospect Park suit in ABC’s favour, they now are able to use the ALL MY CHILDREN and One Life to Live characters. Do it! Perhaps the pairing of Howarth and Rebecca Herbst as Elizabeth wouldn’t be as skeevy considering “Franco’s” past. Todd Manning though flawed, became a better man after what he did to Marty Saybrooke (Susan Haskell). But those are just some of my short-term solutions to correct those mistakes Frank Valentini has made with this show. If there are others please post them in the comments section. If you like this post and by and large agree with it, share it on your social media accounts. Tag Valentini, ABC and GENERAL HOSPITAL if you like. We have to become proactive to correct the very bad decisions that have been made. And bringing back Tamara Braun as someone else other than Carly, and firing Genie Francis is bad logic.

I’ve tried as I might to grasp this new paradigm of Tamara being back on GENERAL HOSPITAL as Kim Nero while someone else plays the part of Carly Corinthos. I’ve tried. Tried to understand the reasoning for bringing Tamara back to play another character when she was so beloved as Carly. Hearing her today say that name to another person who clearly represents everything Tamara strove for four years and eleven months to evolve to another level just boggles my mind. When I see Laura Wright in thirteen years strip all that growth and dignity back to what I’m going to start calling Proto-Carly, I’m just stymied. There are people who actually like this! There are people who love that she’s reduced Carly back to a caricature in a sort of Darwinian nightmare of base level impulses just makes me shake my head in disgust. And I’m not going to hide it anymore. Tell me again when Tamara’s/Kim story is supposed to take off? Tell me again that Tamara is going to drive her own stories as “Kim Nero” much in the same way she drove Club 101, The Panic Room, the aftermath of being shot in the head, Alternate Universe with Alcazar (Ted King), Michael’s Death. Please tell me she’s not going to continue to be a fourth wheel in someone else’s storyline like Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Julian (William DeVry), or Drew (Billy Miller) and Sam (Kelly Monaco). Please tell me again why Frank Valentini wanted her back? I’m going to say one negative thing to Tamara in hopes she understands it in the spirit in which I hope it comes off.

In a recent interview when asked what made her decide to come back to GENERAL HOSPITAL she said, “I got to play Carly for four years and loved her with all my heart, so I asked my friend who loves soaps for her thoughts on actors returning as different characters,” Braun shares. “She said, ‘If they’ve become a character I love, then I just want to see them — regardless of who they play. You fall in love with the actor.’ And I’ve been getting [on-line] comments from fans saying, ‘Come back as anything!’ So I thought, ‘What the heck? Let’s see how this goes!’” To that I say to Tamara, NO. This isn’t about someone coming back to play someone else after playing a bit part. This is about someone who changed a character so drastically in terms of growth, humanity, humility, vulnerability, and all those qualities you hope a character who has been in a long running drama does. Grow! Tamara changed Carly for all the right reasons. For all the reasons we need to see her remain on the canvas and keep learning those lessons we all learn. As Carly grew under Tamara’s able care, we grew. We loved Carly, we loved her journey… A journey that was cut short when she announced — for good reason — her decision to leave the role in 2005.

I know the deal in soap operas with recasts. Face it Jennifer Bransford was given a shit deal. She was only a placeholder until the Powers That Be were able to bring Wright in after her contract expired from Guiding Light. Jennifer was just a warm body. They just didn’t want to allow Tamara to play out Michael’s (Dylan Cash) homecoming. That was clear. They made sure Jennifer was reviled as Carly so that when Wright assumed the role, the fans would be relieved Carly had been “salvaged” from the Bransford’s “failings”. The ones who failed though was not Jennifer Bransford, it was the powers that be at GENERAL HOSPITAL who thought they could do this in front of our eyes and we’d take whatever shit they threw at us and we’d be grateful Carly was in “able” hands. Today showed they were wrong. So wrong. So like what Robert Guza Jr., Charles Pratt Jr., Jill Farren Phelps, and most of all Brian Frons did in 2005 with their Carly Shell Game, Frank Valentini believes we’ll take lying down because we should be “grateful” he was the one who brought Tamara Braun back home to GENERAL HOSPITAL. I’m calling big time bullshit on that. We saw Bobbie (Jacklyn Zeman) today. She was talking to this Proto-Carly or Snarlybeast as she’s known on many soap boards, and we saw Tamara in the background. We see what you’re doing and to a lot of us who despise what Frons, Phelps, Guza, Pratt, and Wright have done with the character of Carly Corinthos, we are not amused. We are not entertained. I know for me, once Tamara is done I’m done. GENERAL HOSPITAL has shown me my viewership is not appreciated. And I’m not going to take the whole, “Well Tamara chose to leave so Laura Wright took over and has been playing the part for thirteen years…..” hyperbole. It doesn’t mean squat on this show who has done the ole switcheroo so many times (**cough**Prospect Park**cough**) and the ONE LIFE TO LIVE Three. It can be done again if the will is there. I say it’s time. Let Tamara resume a character she said she, “Loved with her whole heart”. And it showed. It showed in what she brought every single day for four years and eleven months. When Wright said, “I’m going to be playing my Carly closer to the original….” What she meant to say is that she’s going to strip away every single nuance Tamara infused the character with, and reduce her back to the shrieking guttersnipe Carly was as that teenager who came to town way back in 1996. Yeah….that’s acting alright. But then what can one expect from someone who never trained to be an actress and who instead took the easy way in. And I don’t care I said that. Any Laura Wright fans who come here thinking I’m going to be gracious. Think again. I don’t have to be gracious when Wright spoke so negatively about Tamara and Jennifer. And I know some of my visitors will say to me, “So you’re going to take statements Laura Wright said thirteen years ago and use them against her now?” As with the current political climate, people have to be responsible for the words they say. Enough with the snowflakery.

Finally is December 29th’s clip, short as it may be. Overall I thought Tamara was really good, though I’m getting a little tired of her lack of airtime. I’m hoping they start ramping up her story soon. And I’m going to say it, I’m so tired of Laura Wright and her aping. She acts like a perpetual six-year-old. Sorry but I’m so tired of seeing all the comments about “how great an actress she is….” Those who wanted Carly to not advance and be a woman instead of that six-year-old in a woman’s body, shame on you. Seeing Tamara putting on her glasses I couldn’t help but think of Carly doing this. Showing she’s maturing. Instead they’ve got her still scheming and making her “plaaaaaaans”. Sorry for the rip but I’ve had my share of having Tamara torn down in the role. Yep, still people saying she was “miscast”. Some saying she made Carly too refined. I’d like to know what show and character they were watching. All they had to do was look at Tamara from her role of Claire Dunning from THE PRETENDER episode Murder 101. Tamara can play devious. She can also play whacked out as we’ve seen of her as Ava Vitali from DAYS OF OUR LIVES. Just like the Joni Mitchell song, “Took away paradise, and put up a parking lot.” This is why we can’t have nice things. And threads praising Tamara’s performance are still being deleted.

Here finally is Thursday’s episode of GENERAL HOSPITAL. Sorry it took me so long to get it up but my on demand service was giving me hassles when I was trying to record and I didn’t get a good rendering when I clipped it up so I had to go back and re-clip and render. So I’m going to say it again, if anything Thursday’s episode again showed why Tamara’s return is wrong. Why? All during that scene with Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) when they were introducing themselves, I was yelling at the screen, “PANIC ROOM PANIC ROOM PANIC ROOM!” I’m so tired of seeing on message boards that Laura Wright is somehow some sacred cow. When Frank Valentini knew he had Tamara, he should have done the political chess game it would have taken to bring her back as Carly. To me Tamara has seniority because she came before Wright. Wright is not playing Carly, she’s playing some other character and it’s ridiculous to even think she’s not. I’ve tried to be as conciliatory as I can to Wright’s fans, but I can’t anymore and I’m tired of having to keep “the peace” and being politically correct. There just comes a time when common sense has to prevail and logic rule. Soap operas are solidly trying to keep relevant. Part of that relevancy is unless there is a really good reason to bring a former actor back, then have a good reason for it. So far I’ve not seen any reason for Tamara to be back as this Kim. Don’t get me wrong I love the name. That is my partner’s name and I love her dearly, however, “Kim” hasn’t done anything that remotely looks promising. Or as Joel said in one of his comments here, “Loving how incredible Tamara has been in the role of Kim Nero; it’s a new role for her, being a doctor, so it’s refreshing to see her in a role such as Kim! Hoping to see her developed more as the weeks and months go on!” I mean all he has to say is that “she’s a doctor” and “it’s an incredible role”. I love my girl hence this site, but it’s been four episodes and there’s nothing awesome about this character or even a hint of where this story is going. Again having her interact with people she acted with before is only compounding the issue of using that history of Tamara as Carly especially with the reveal that Steve Burton is indeed Jason Morgan, I’m thinking of the flashback they could have used when Jason came back to Port Charles back in 2002 to compound that history between Carly, Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Jason. I’m thinking of that scene where Carly sees Jason at the Penthouse and jumps into his arms. I’m also still having the feeling this character is short-term. Sarah Brown lasted for almost two years as Claudia Zacharra and from the looks of “Kim’s” squirrelly behaviour, I don’t see the character lasting long. We as Tamara’s fans who would love to see her return to being Carly, let your voice be heard. In the poll I ran here on the site 66% of the respondents said they wanted her as Carly. Most of the message boards and comment sections I’ve read want Wright gone. That should mean something. It used to.

I’ve updated the press section again with some new articles on Tamara’s return to GENERAL HOSPITAL. Like before you can find those at the links provided below. It has been confirmed her character’s name is Kim Nero. I will be posting all screencaps and clips of her episodes so you can keep checking back for those updates. So now here is a bit of the downside of running a website. While I love that Tamara is back on our screens and she is so enthusiastic about her return, I’m feeling a might bit like my intelligence is being insulted by not bringing her back as Carly, a role she played from 2001-2005. I’ve received many emails from fans who have expressed their disappointment with the show for not bringing Tamara back as Carly. Based on the fiasco that was Taylor Raines Walker on DAYS OF OUR LIVES who Tamara played in 2011, I and others feel we’re being betrayed by not having her back as the character we loved. Ergo: Ava on DAYS and Carly on GH. I’m going to make it known that I cannot and have never been able to tolerate Laura Wright as “Carly”. I put that in quotes because to me and others Wright has never been playing Carly. She’s been playing some other incarnation of her Guiding Light character Cassie Layne. My dislike of Wright is also based on her statement, “I’m going to be playing my Carly closer to the original….” This she stated in the days preceding her November 2005 premiere on the show. In effect with those eleven words she more or less threw shade and dissed Tamara and Jennifer Bransford who played Carly as she should have been played as an evolving character, a growing character. Instead Wright took Carly back to the gutter snipe played by Sarah Brown, negated all of the growth, maturity, humility and humanity Tamara infused Carly with and brought her back to a sort of infantile creation. Now Wright wants to say she loves Tamara when she again threw shade at Tamara via various other statements she made after taking over the character.

I know this might rub some people the wrong way, however, I felt it needed to be said. I’m so tired of the soap industry believing they can play this kind of game and think it doesn’t mean anything to the fans. It does. Particularly when Tamara was so beloved by fans of the show and her fans as Carly. And again I mention that whole intelligence insulted thing I mentioned before. I mean on DAYS OF OUR LIVES when they de-Romaned Drake Hogestyn and brought in Josh Taylor as Roman Brady, then tried to tell us he didn’t play Chris Kositcek. Same thing with Tamara as Taylor but then trying to pull the woolly to try to convince us she didn’t just play Ava Vitali only three years before. I know it’s been twelve years since she played Carly, three if you count her brief appearance in the Carlypalooza episode that aired April 1st, 2014. To those of Tamara’s fans who waited and hoped to see her again as Carly, this is a huge let down. From the emails I’ve received some are wondering if they just won’t stick to the clips I’ll provide and avoid actually watching the show to voice their disapproval. I can’t say that I blame them. If not for this site and my dedication to it, I might have skipped it myself. But I don’t have to like it. And I don’t. I hate this and really have reservations about it all. If Tamara reads this I’m not criticizing you, I’m mad at the powers that be that think we’re so stupid we won’t notice. We have and we’re not happy.

New scan in the gallery. To view please again follow the links in the post here. On a note I know this might be inappropriate for a fansite, however, I’m feeling the need to say it. I’m hugely ambivalent to Tamara’s return to GENERAL HOSPITAL. I really wanted this so much. I wanted her back and wanted her to be on long term, however, I feel this is another of her short stints and that it won’t amount to much other than once again serving another’s story rather than her own. The reason I’m so ambivalent is because I wanted her back as Carly. As with her return to DAYS OF OUR LIVES in 2011 as Taylor Walker, this one not only is disappointing that she’s not playing the role she put her indelible mark on and the reason Laura Wright continues to have a job. If not for what Tamara did with the role Wright would not have been able to play not the progressed Carly Corinthos, but “one closer to the original”. In my opinion that’s why she fails utterly as Carly because she has the hubris and temerity to believe she can play her Carly “closer to the original” without taking into consideration she should be incorporating Tamara’s version of the character into her portrayal. By stating she would be playing her Carly “closer to the original” she continues to show a disrespect to Tamara and to a degree Jennifer Bransford who bravely stepped in and took on the part while the ubiquitous powers that be set her up for failure simply be believing they could abuse both Tamara and Jennifer and think we wouldn’t notice. I noticed and while I will be posting regular updates on Tamara’s episodes including screencaps and clips in the gallery and media sections respectively, I’m going to register my displeasure once again for Tamara being brought back as a gimmick, rather than giving her something meaty and respectful in bringing her back to GENERAL HOSPITAL as Carly or DAYS OF OUR LIVES as Ava, instead of as someone associated with Patient6 and Taylor Walker. It will be hard to think of Tamara not as Carly since that is the role that brought me to her as a fan, but to me in my heart she’ll be playing Carly that is closer to where Carly should be and not as a screeching banshee, as Wright is fondly known as on a few message boards. I could tell you some of the other nicknames have for Wright, but I’ll leave it at this. When the IMDB boards were at their height before shutting down, a person named Bored558 posted to Wright’s page back in 2005 when Wright was announced at having taken over the part. To read what he said, please click LAURA WRIGHT IMDB POST. All of what he posted has come true. All of the growth, dignity and humility Tamara infused Carly with is gone. There are some who will say to me, “Well Laura has played Carly the longest and as such is the definitive Carly….” I say wrong. I say whoever brought the greatest growth to the character is the one with squatting rights. As a writer I feel this is most important for long-term characters. Growth and change. Considering Wright is playing her Carly “closer to the original” it’s not surprising she is garnering quite a lot of disdain for her portrayal. I would like to say “Welcome Back Tamara….” But it would be lying. Right now it’s a case of “Welcome back character who won’t move her own story but only aid in Jason and Sonny’s story….yet again.” Carly died 15 April 2005. The final nail was hammered in November 4, 2005, and Jennifer Bransford was the sacrificial lamb.
