Tamara Quoteables

Tamara: On Acting

  • I got chiggers. You don’t even know until you start itching like 24 hours later. They itch like the dickens. Poeple all over the South have remedies for it. But I made incredible friends and formed wonderful relationships I will always have. I am very proud of the film and what it did. (Tamara on her experience filming Little Chenier in Louisiana – SOD 06/03/2008)

Tamara: On Life

  • Whenever you make a decision, you gain something and you lose something. So of course, there are conflicting emotions for me. But I have to focus on the positive. I have to focus on the opportunities and not look back. That’s one of the reasons I’m moving on. I don’t want to say “What if?” — Tamara Braun (on her reasons for leaving ‘General Hospital — ABC SID — 03/24/2005)
  • I have to get another one and name it Hops, and have a big beerfest. And I don’t even like beer. (Tamara on her new puppy Barley – SOD 06/03/2008)
  • I am a good cook because I enjoy it. But I tend to cook a little more on the healthy side, so if you’re used to heavy creams or butters, that’s not me. I’ve been doing a lot of polenta lately. (Tamara on her cooking prowess – SOD 06/03/2008)
  • There are conflicing emotions for me. but I have to focus on the positive and not look back. — Tamara Braun (Year In Soaps 2005)
  • It was like reading a novel. I remember reading it in bed and laughing out loud, and crying out loud. I fell in love with all that it was. It’s about family. It’s about loyalty, love, loss. It’s about having to make difficult decisions and then dealing with the consequences. It’s about life! Tamara Braun — (on making ‘Little Chenier’ — ABC SID 09/13/2005)

Tamara: On Soaps

  • I got a call, and it was a role that really intrigued me, so we got to talking. [Ava] sounds very layered and complicated and seems like there’s a lot to sink my teeth into. (Tamara on why she came back to daytime)
  • There was nothing wrong with leaving daytime and there’s nothing wrong with coming back … Things just have to line up in your life. It has to be the right time to express and explore certain things. (Tamara on her decision to join Days of our Lives)
  • She’s attracted to him, but she’s cautious because of what she went through with Patch. But John is odd and quirky and unlike anyone she’s met before. (Tamara on how Ava sees John – SOD 06/24/2008)
  • People expect me to be crazy or mean, so they’re surprised. I assure them there are no bunnies in a pot or anything. (Tamara on the perception people have when they meet her in light of her Crazy Ava persona – SOD 06/03/2008)

Others On Tamara

  • I’m really looking forward to working with Tamara. I read with some very good actresses. when I heard Tamara was interested, I told Ken [Corday] and Ed [Scott] and Marnie [Saita] I thought she would be great for the role. I remember when she came to GH faced with the task of taking over a difficult role from Sarah Brown who was wonderful. Tamara did an incredible job and made Carly her own. — Stephen Nichols (SOD – 02/12/2008)
  • Tamara and I share a bond. We’re like two scrappy prize-fighters who never give up fighting for the integrity of our profession. I look forward to working with her again soon. — Ted King (SOD 08/14/2007)
  • We have amazing new additions to our cast including Tamara Braun and Shawn Christian, both of whom I adore and admire. I am so thrilled that they are walking our halls and gracing us with their talent, and positive energy. Both are very down to earth, awesome people, and I am very excited to have them in our family. — Rachel Melvin (Chelsea of Days of our Lives in her blog dated 03/16/2008 on Tamara’s addition to the cast)
  • She was the best and most electrifying of the four gals who have played Carly on General Hospital save your irate letters, you can’t change my mind! Now she’s opened up a big can o’ whoop-ass on Salem as Ava, a bodacious banana with a jones for Patch (Stephen Nichols). Braun is an elegant, campy, scary smash. She can stalk me anytime! RATING: 4 out of 5 stars — TVGUIDE.COM’s Michael Logan (on Tamara’s return to daytime — 03/18/2008)
  • This gal twists a line in a different way, in a flippant way. Then she drops right down and underplays things. She’s very talented. I’m sure I’ll be able to steal things from her, as I have from all the actresses on the show. (Drake Hogestyn on Tamara – SOW 06/17/2008)
  • Yes! I’m so excited. Ava. I don’t even know her last name. She doesn’t need a last name, she’s so fabulous. Let me start by saying – huge fan of Tamara Braun. When she came onto General Hospital as Carly, I was like, she’s amazing. I sort of became a crazy fan. I worked with her on a Planned Parenthood event, a play that Heather Tom had put together to raise money. We all did separate monologues but we did rehearsals together. I’ve always thought very highly of her. I’ve already told her that I’m a crazy fan! But I feel another kindred spirit. We get along so well. You know what she is? She’s so available. As an actor, you talk about trust, and you can look in her eyes and know she’s there for you. So I really enjoy it. I can’t tell you how lucky I feel! They’re amazing actors that I get to work with. (Arainne Zuker on working with Tamara Braun — Days of our Lives Behind the Scenes @ daysofourlives.com)
  • She’s such a free instrument and a free spirit. She reminds me a little bit of Kirsten Storms [Maxie, GH; ex-Belle] and how natural she is with picking up an idea or vision and just really diving into it. [Drake Hogestyn on Tamara – 08/12/2008 Soap Opera Digest]
  • But it’s lovely to have Tamara back. I am so over the moon to be working with her and it will completely change the dynamic of the storyline. She and I work well together. She and Ari [Zucker, Nicole] work wonderfully together. [ James Scott on Tamara’s return to DAYS as Taylor – 03/08/2011 SOAP OPERA DIGEST ]
  • When Tamara and I had a small chance to engage with each other when she was playing Ava, I caught the tail end of her contract and thought, ‘What a great combo Ava and Nicole would be,’ and then she left the show. I really just enjoyed her work and her trust. It’s nice to work with people you have watched and respected. It’s a good combination. I hope everyone enjoys it. I’m thrilled to have a sister on the show period. [ Arianne Zuker on Tamara’s return to DOOL – 05/03/2011 SOAP OPERA DIGEST ]
