Not much of our girl today. She’s been missing in action since the 25th of April and this is all we get? I’m going to state again why bring her back to play a character who the writers clearly have no interest is developing beyond just hanging around at Charlie’s and chasing after Julian (William deVry)? The one thing we know now is that I’ve added a new project of Tamara’s to the sidebar. Apparently she’s been off filming a pilot for a new series either for television or streaming a la Netflix. The series is THROTTLE and Tamara’s character’s name is Kate Smith. So far she’s filmed one episode and the pilot is scheduled to air/stream in 2019. I’m going to keep an eye on this title for any new news on it or whether it will go to series. Here’s hoping it does as Tamara looks like she’s a main character. Quite frankly I’d rather see her in a series rather than being wasted on this show. Sorry for being the Debbie Downer but it’s been so frustrating to see her largely play crowd scenes in other people’s stories considering as Carly, Ava, Reese and even Taylor she was driving her own stories. It just seems to me Frank Valentini and the writers wanted her back for her fans eyes, rather than giving her fans what we want.

The latest edition of Soap Opera Digest has a retrospective of the history of LGBTQ in soap operas. The significant mention from ALL MY CHILDREN is Eden Riegel as being one of the first lesbians in daytime. She was very significant due to her being the daughter of none other than Erica Kane (Susan Lucci). In the pictorial it mentions the first lesbian wedding in daytime. Of course the other half of that was our own Tamara Braun as Reese Williams. There’s no text link to the press section since the article indirectly mentions Tamara.

I’ve been busy adding the most recent articles to the Press Section. To see those please feel free to click on the link below to go to the press section and check the header for the most recent additions.

I just thought I’d post this for those who don’t know what’s going on with these two soaps. One has a lot to do with Tamara in that she played a major character on ALL MY CHILDREN as Reese Williams. As you likely know by now, both soaps are on their way back to the airwaves. Well, sort of. Prospect Park and it’s Online Network have signed a deal with HULU and HULU Plus as well as iTunes to bring the shows to the fans online. Further Prospect Park has just announced they have sold the rights to air the shows in Canada via the FX channel. A great thing for us Canucks who up to this point have been left out of the loop. To watch the shows in either the United States and Canada, follow the links below.

The social impact of the Reese and Bianca relationship is continuing to have an impact abroad. On a Dutch soap opera a brochure showed up featuring an image of Reese and Bianca at their 2009 groundbreaking nuptials. Here is what was said about the show and the featuring of the brochure:

AMC’s Bianca & Reese Pop Up On Dutch Soap GTST

ALL MY CHILDREN’s Bianca (Eden Riegel) and Reese (Tamara Braun) were seen on Dutch soap opera GOEDE TIJDEN SLECHTE TIJDEN on Friday, on a marriage equality brochure. GTST fan and We Love Soaps contributor Mark offers us a recap:

Nuran Baydar (played by Toprak Yalçiner) and Rik de Jong (played by Ferri Somogyi) have feelings for each other. But because Rik isn’t muslim Nuran feels like she can’t be in a relationship with him. Both of them have started dating other people and both of them are rushing into marriage. Rik with Yvon Terstal (played by Terence Schreurs) and Nuran with Bilal Demir (played by Sinan Eroglu). Especially that last marriage is doomed because Bilal is actually gay.

On Friday Nuran went to a bridal shop to try on her wedding dress. Rik saw her through the window and couldn’t resist to enter the shop. As an excuse he said he wanted to pick up some brochures for Yvon. He wasn’t really paying attention to those brochures because one of them was the one about gay marriage.

When I saw the episode I didn’t notice it was Bianca and Reese. I saw it today when the show uploaded it on their website. The show always does this with letters, cards and photos that are used in the episodes as props. It’s a fun extra for the fans.

The brochure itself talks about how gay marriage has been legal since 2001, but that there are still a few differences between gay couples and straight couples. Like when a couple has children. Only the biological parent is seen as a legal parent. The other parent has to adopt the child to become a legal parent.

Here are the front and back covers of the brochure, it’s all in Dutch with no translation.

I think it’s amazing that the Reese and Bianca story is still having an impact, particularly on the global discussion on Gay Rights Equality. It’s only too bad Chuck Pratt didn’t see it the way we did and the way the world saw it. I’m proud of both Tamara and Eden’s work and how they managed to make Reese and Bianca so valid in today’s global discussion on the rights of those who do not share equality on certain levels. The whole aspect of inequality in terms of the issue of children from a gay or lesbian couple where the other parent has to adopt the child(ren) from the union still needs some work. What is bothersome is that while surrogacy is needed in the issue of sperm/womb donor, there should be no separation between the aspect of parenting. In whatever union that is — in terms of two women or two men — they are parents. Once that decision is made to have a child, end of story. It’s no different than that of heterosexual couples.

Jumping off soap box now.

A friend sent me this scan of Tamara with her former AMC co-star Chrishell Stause (Amanda Dillon). The reason I’m posting this is, if anyone remembers when Tamara tweeted she had to go and get her hair coloured. Well this shows her hair isn’t that different from her look as Taylor. So this again begs the question…what did she go to the colourist for….again. Scan included below and thanks Edain.
