Is anyone getting as excited as I am to see Tamara back? I know I am. I can hardly wait to see how she’ll look as Taylor.
Okay, random post…. just because.
I’ve been pulling together the 2011 press section. With the news of Tamara’s return to daytime, I really wanted to get the articles I’d collected so far this year typed out and put into the press section. Most of the articles deal with Tamara’s decision to not return to ALL MY CHILDREN as Reese Williams. If I may insert my jounalistic freedom of speech here, I’d have to say for the most part the new scribes for AMC are a little condescending of Tamara and the character of Reese. It’s as if they’re trying to make like she never existed. One article’s title is very much suspect: Bianca: Out With The Old, In With The Who?. As if Reese is ‘old’ per se. My main gripe is that no one has addressed the shoddy treatment she received at the hands of ABC and AMC while she was there. She signed up for one role and was handed another. It’s as if Tamara and by extension Eden Riegel’s decisions not to return are out of spite and not artistic integrity, not to forget that both were treated badly and promised something that didn’t come to fruition. Does Brian Frons and Julie Hannan Carruthers wonder why Eden signed onto THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS and Tamara is returning to DAYS OF OUR LIVES? Instead, they write Bianca as some sort of vacuous, unfeeling twit. Here would have been a great shattering moment for both Her Kendallness and NotBinks: When Thorsten Kaye refused to move west with AMC and it was decided that Zach was going to be killed off…why not have Zach die going to get Reese and have the plane crash with the both of them aboard. That way AMC has the ability to not undo the first gay marriage on television and keep Reese as the loving mate she was to the real Bianca. I have to wonder how Tamara feels about how coldly these writers are treating her character?

In what I can only call a shocking announcement, it appears that Tamara is on her way back to daytime television. And it’s back to DAYS OF OUR LIVES, but not as Ava, her Emmy Award Winning role…but as a character currently being played by her former GH co-star Natalia Livingston. Huge DAYS Casting Change!
Soap Opera Digest has learned that Emmy winner Natalia Livingston (ex-Emily/Rebecca, GH), who just started airing three weeks ago as DAYS’s Taylor, has been let go and replaced with another Emmy winner who used to call Port Charles home — Tamara Braun (ex-Ava, DAYS; ex-Carly, GH et al). Braun appeared as Ava in 2008 and took home a golden trophy for her Salem performances in 2009. She will start taping today; look for her to first air in late April. “It was decided to take the character of Taylor in a new direction,” explains Co-Executive Producer Gary Tomlin. “Natalia Livingston is an amazing actress and a consummate professional. She is a class act and everyone at the studio adores her.”
I want to thank Lisa for the heads up on this news. While I would have loved to have seen Ava back in Salem, it’s good news that Tamara will once again be gracing our screens and rest assured, TAMARA OBSCURA will be here to keep you up on Tamara’s new role.
I managed to find some images of Tamara from soap scooper Michael Fairman’s 50th birthday bash. I’m sorry they’re not HQ, but they were all I could find. But at least we have a siting for the new year. It looks like Tamara has gone back to her brunette colour. She looks stunning though. The ‘scoop’ on how I found out about this is, I post regularly to the boards at SoapCentral.com and Dan J. Kroll who owns the website has a regular Sirius radio show. Each week he interviews people from the soap world, but sometimes he has a phone in show where he answers questions from the fans. Well, I called in because I wanted to find out three things. The first was about Ted King‘s newly minted role on ONE LIFE TO LIVE, next was where Stephen Nichols had gone on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, last but not least, where Tamara was these days and whether we’d be seeing her again. Kroll told me that Tamara had attended Fairman’s birthday bash. So I of course Googled and found these. Again not the greatest quality, but good to see Tamara. I did download the program from Kroll’s site in MP3 format. If anyone would like me to clip out my section, let me know and I’ll post it. But not until.

Okay, I started this on my RENEGADE ~ STEPHEN NICHOLS ONLINE site, but no one seemed to be truly interested. I’m hoping I have better luck here. Here’s what I’m planning, I need some sign ups here to pick the photo that will go in what is now called the ‘Photo Pick of the Month’ space in the sidebar. What will happen is that for anyone who signs up to this post, you will get the chance to pick one photo from the gallery, and that photo will be the photo of the week. Your name will be used and the chance to feature your website or a favourite you visit frequently…this one excluded because we know you like it since you visit. This is the chance to truly make this a fan-friendly site and you can feel like you contribute something. So again, you have to sign your name in the comments section plus the URL of the photo you chose from the gallery. If there are multiple sign-ups, then what I’ll do is go in order according to the sign up date, or if there were multiple sign ups on the same day, it’ll go according to the timestamp. Once I have sufficient to fulfill say a month or two months worth of photos, I’ll put a hold until that time has passed. I’ll then put up a new post for new sign ups.
I truly hope this will be fun and again, giving Tamara’s fans the chance to be interactive with this site as well as make it fun for all.

Apparently not all was right in Denmark. When I made my Happy Birthday Post to Eden Rigel, I went to add a video of the Reese and Bianca nuptials and there was a problem with uploading to the site. It kept telling my in the upload queue that there was no video available for diaplaying, but there was a video there. So now after copious amounts of hair loss due to my pulling it out at having to deal with my video host one more time, things are finally back to normal. ::dammit, when will I remember my damn div tags::banging head on the keyboard::
