There’s not much in the history of soaps that is worth celebrating, however, today is one of the most monumental moments in soap opera history. On this day nine years ago ALL MY CHILDREN reached an unheard of peak with the first LGBTQ wedding. With the first real “out” character of Bianca Montgomery played by the beautiful Eden Riegel, soap scribe and ALL MY CHILDREN creator Agnes Nixon created for her one of the most controversial soap heroines. It became difficult to tell Bianca’s story without really allowing her the same moments in the story as her fellow characters did in terms of getting married and settling down to have a real family. It wasn’t until 2008 when the show brought on Tamara fresh off of her role as Ava Vitali on DAYS OF OUR LIVES to play the character of architect Reese Williams who would sweep Binx off her feet and make an honest woman out of her. The nuptials of these two characters made for one of the most history making moments in television history with finally acknowledging the relevance of same-sex couples in a medium that only acknowledged the classic heterosexual unions. I choose to forget what came after since it was sacriledge what was done to Reese and Bianca. Instead I choose to focus in on the incredible moments in television. So here’s to Tamara Braun and Eden Riegel. Thank you for braving to bring us something that is of historic value, showing it is not wrong to love someone who is of your own sex. In fact it’s, well…. normal. What a wonderful moment to remember. Thank you Tamara and thank you Eden.
I’ve completed clipping and uploading Tamara’s episodes of DAYS OF OUR LIVES as Ava Vitali from March 2008. It’s been a tough go getting all these clips together and straightened out. Having moved computers at least twice since 2008 I’ve had to save my data to three separate external drives, and I’ve had a hard time finding all complete episodes. The original episodes were pretty badly clipped up as I was doing all that work on Windows Movie Maker. I’ve since bought a new program that makes the clips much cleaner as you’ve seen from her current work as Kim Nero on GENERAL HOSPITAL. There might be some glitches in the editing due to trying to get them done. I know there’s one with a bit of a commercial with a cute animated bunny. But then who doens’t love animated bunnies. Enjoy.

A new batch of scans for the gallery and press section. In the one article Finding Nero, Tamara talks about coming back to GENERAL HOSPITAL and of her work on other soaps DAYS OF OUR LIVES as Ava/Taylor, and on her historic role of Reese Williams and the first same-sex marriage on ALL MY CHILDREN. Finally is December 29th’s clip, short as it may be. Overall I thought Tamara was really good, though I’m getting a little tired of her lack of airtime. I’m hoping they start ramping up her story soon.
