TAMARA OBSCURA || NEW INTERVIEW WITH TAMARA

I’ve been a little remiss at posting here due to the recent issues I had with the images I posted from Tamara’s play. The thing that has been running through my mind is, “How to proceed in terms of bringing Tamara’s fans what they’ve come to expect here?” And with good reason. So I’ve been juggling the pros and the cons in figuring out how to balance the needs of this site as well as those of the original authors/photographers and such of the various things that make up a fan website. So what I’ve decided to do is change the policy here at TAMARA OBSCURA. From here on I will post the content in the gallery or media sites and include in the post or page the original source, therefore any complications can be addressed by the fact I have posted the original source as well as comply with the nature of what is termed “Fair Use” for the purpose of furthering the understanding and education of people on the career of Tamara Braun. So without further adieu. I have an interview with Tamara on a wide range of things. First is her play, TENNESSEE IN THE SUMMER where she explains her character Woman. She then goes into the survival of the Soap Opera genre as well as her role in the groundbreaking storyline involving the first Same-Sex marriage on daytime. Tamara also gives us a bit of insight into why she became an actress. I have added the article to the press section as well as cited the original source. Below is a snippet of Tamara’s interview.

Phyllis: Do you prefer acting for television, film or for the stage? Do you prepare for one differently than the other?
Tamara: I like the subtleties that film and TV allow that theatre does not. The camera does not lie. It picks up thought and inner life. But with film you have to wait so long to see the final product. TV airs much quicker than film and daytime…such quick turnaround but often I was too busy to watch.

In theatre, the audience becomes another entity to your performance. You try and not let them change your performance but inevitably one is affected by it. We are affected by people’s energy in life so of course we will be affected in the theatre. If the audience is with you on a certain night it can propel your performance to great heights and if they are not really with you (and the cast takes it in) then unfortunately the performance can feel off…in terms of preferring one more than others… I like them all for the challenges that each bring.

TAMARA OBSCURA || TAMARA’S LAST DOOL AIRDATE REVISED

According to the latest edition of SOAP OPERA WEEKLY, Tamara’s last official airdate as Taylor on DOOL has been revised to 22 September 2011. There’s still no word as to the how Taylor will be written off, but I know one thing…I’m going to miss Tamara. She’s been a huge asset to this show over the past few months and I still truly believe TPTB never truly utilized Tamara the way they could have.

I also wanted to give an update as to the caps and clips. What is taking so long is that I’m now ripping all clips to HD format. This means it takes double the time to save. I’m so far about half way through July’s episodes and will be posting them when done.

TAMARA OBSCURA || TAMARA OUT & ABOUT

A friend sent me this scan of Tamara with her former AMC co-star Chrishell Stause (Amanda Dillon). The reason I’m posting this is, if anyone remembers when Tamara tweeted she had to go and get her hair coloured. Well this shows her hair isn’t that different from her look as Taylor. So this again begs the question…what did she go to the colourist for….again. Scan included below and thanks Edain.

TAMARA OBSCURA || PRESS ADDITIONS

Some new press additions for you. I have the latest edition of ABC SOAPS IN DEPTH where GH executive producer, Jill Farren Phelps, denies Tamara is returning to GH. Yeah Jill, be more convincing. I also have two other things that have been backlogged. I still have a ton of stuff to get up in the press section and the scans in the gallery but…. Enjoy. As usual, links in the articles lead to the actual scans in the gallery. However, if you want to see the actual scans, I’ll include the links there in post. Also, I’m currently working on getting July’s DOOL‘s screencaps and clips done and added to the site. Stay tuned.

TAMARA OBSCURA || TAMARA TO RETURN TO GH?

Well, not sure what to think but according to internet buzz, Tamara is on her way back to GENERAL HOSPITAL….or not! According to a posting on ABC SOAPS IN DEPTH website it was a done deal. Now the post is gone and they’ve issued a retraction. Not sure what is going on but someone is up to some cyber hijinx. My hope? It’s true. I’d kill to see Tamara back as Carly.

UPDATE: Braun Not Headed Back To GH

UPDATE: According to a GH spokesperson, this is a false rumor and Braun is not headed back to GENERAL HOSPITAL.

Tamara Braun (ex-Reese, ALL MY CHILDREN; ex-Carly, GENERAL HOSPITAL) will be exiting DAYS OF OUR LIVES as Taylor in the coming months, and the Emmy winner already has her next gig lined up: multiple sources confirm to Soaps In Depth that she’s returning to GH!

Rest assured, Laura Wright fans. We hear that Carly’s current portrayer is in no danger of being replaced by her predecessor. Rather, Braun will be playing a new character when she returns to Port Charles this fall!

Of course, this won’t be the first past Carly to come back in the form of a new character. Sarah Joy Brown, who originated the role in 1996 before Braun took over in 2001, stepped into the stilettos of Claudia Zacchara in 2008. And Braun already has experience in playing a different character on a soap she’s already called home: Prior to her current DAYS gig, the actress played Ava for 6 months in 2008, even winning a Supporting Actress Emmy for her performance!

Further updates will be made to this post should things change….and we know things change.

TAMARA OBSCURA || TAMARA HAS BEEN LET GO BY CORDAY

According to Soap Opera Digest Online Tamara has been let go as Taylor. Apparently Ken Corday courts her for two years to come back and then cans her. You can read the news at the above link. This is sad news. I was getting used to seeing her again.
